The OSBC team is excited to announce two 3-day pop-up Songwriting Camps in beautiful Elphin, Ontario. Eleven attendees each, $450 + HST per camper including all classes & workshops, meals, tent camping and amenities. For COVID-19 safety, ALL activities will be outdoors.
Songwriting camp will be taught by David Francey, a three-time Juno winner and Grand Prize winner of the John Lennon Songwriting Award. More instruction and facilitating will be offered by two-time Juno-winning songwriter (and Camp Director) Jenny Whiteley, Dora Award nominated singer/songwriter Kristine Schmitt, Juno-nominated musician Joey Wright, and roots songstress/camp assistant Allison Brown.
Week 1 begins at 4pm Friday, September 11th and wraps up Sunday the 13th after lunch. Week 2 follows the same schedule from Sept. 18-20. Programming will include interactive instruction with David, song circles and workshops on such topics as Stagefright Bootcamp, co-writing, finding melodies, breaking through a block, and more.
Campers will tent onsite (sorry, no trailers), and we have two beautiful outdoor, heated, private showers and our new “glamping” washroom with fresh running water. We’ll dine outdoors in our large screened shelter and learn there as well.
For those wishing to stay offsite locally, a partial list of Air BnB listings and Inns is available at https://oldschoolbluegrasscamp.wordpress.com/location
Pop Up, How it works:
We are calling it a pop up event because of the short lead up time, and because we will only run the event if we sell all the spots. Week 1 is sold out, and Week 2 will run if we get a few more signed up. We will confirm that we are going ahead with Week 2 as soon as we are full. Only those who have paid by email transfer will be considered enrolled. We will not deposit any money until we have confirmed that we are going ahead with the camp.
To sign up:
1st – send an email transfer to email@example.com for $450 plus HST ($508.50). Please send a separate email letting us know your payment has been sent to make sure we have your email address.
2nd – you will get a confirmation email from us including a link to the registration form, you will email back with you password for the transfer
3rd – you fill out the online registration form
4th – we will confirm that we are running the camp, deposit your fee and send you the details of programming and other things you will want to know and need at camp.
As mentioned, all activities are being held in the fresh air. Facilities will be sanitized often and we will be in contact with all 11 campers about what to expect and what is expected as the date approaches. We will be consulting with public health about any updates on protocols as camp approaches.
Hope to see some of you at our pop-up Songwriting Camp this September! Jenny Whiteley and the Old School Bluegrass/Songwriting Camp Team
